History

What can you say about the Napoleonic Wars that every schoolboy, toy soldier collector and wargamer doesn't already know? It was the series of conflicts fought at the beginning of the 19th century that irrevocably changed the face of Europe. The instigator was Napoleon Bonaparte, Emperor of France, and most every country on (and off) the Continent was allied or opposed to his bid to conquer the Old World.

By 1812, decades of fighting had taken their toll on France. Her armies were worn thin, ill-supplied, and now wracked by devastating campaigns like the invasion of Russia and the guerilla conflicts of Spain. Spying a chink in Napoleon's armor, many of his allies abandoned him, going over to the enemy (predominantly Great Britain, Austria, Russia, and Prussia).

These united nations turned on and broke the Imperial Army not once, but twice! Escaping exile for a second time, Napoleon returned to France. There he assembled the remnants of his old army and turned to fight one last time, opposed by the British and Prussians. This time, however, Napoleon would "meet his Waterloo."

It's this period that All the King's Men sets out to capture in 54mm miniatures, for wargaming and collecting. We begin with French infantry and their British opponents from 1812-1815.

FIGURES AND ACCESSORIES

We're approaching this period differently than any other we've done. All figures in our Napoleonic line are available as bagged sets -- there are no boxed army sets. That allows you to choose as few or as many battalions as you want, in whatever styles you want.

Our troops consist of separate bodies and heads. In the case of the French, heads, bayonets, sword scabbards, and shako ornaments are all separate and need to be attached. But those extra parts are what give your troops variety, allowing you to mix and match, and position them differently on each figure.

Unit sets are based on the "All the King's Men" wargame rules. You can use them with any rule set, of course, or as display pieces.

We've been asked how our new French size up against other manufacturers' products in the period. Here's one of our men against a Hat light infantryman. They're almost exactly the same size. See our line of plastic Napoleonics below on this page.
And here are some Hat plastic figures all painted. They're indistinguishable from metal until you pick them up.

All figures are white metal, while horses are sturdy plastic to keep them light. All figures come unpainted. Painted figures shown here are simply examples of how your battalions can paint up.

CARE AND FEEDING OF ATKM MINIATURES

We recommend washing all plastic figures with a mild detergent before painting. Metal and plastic figures should be primed with a quality primer. If parts are bent, gently bend them back into position. Both acrylic- and lacquer-based paints bring ATKM miniatures to life. Practice good hygiene when working with miniatures.
